An Amish Family Reunion

Fiction Spotlight: An Amish Family Reunion

I am oh-so-happy to spotlight the newest release of my friend, Mary Ellis.

An Amish Family Reunion is delightful! Yes, I have a copy. Ha ha. That’s mean of me, isn’t it? : ) I’m laughing because I’m in the middle of it as I type this blog, and I do love the characters. I’ll admit that I haven’t read the previous books in this series … but I still completely understand what’s going on! (One mark of a good author.)

During a rumschpringe visit to Niagara Falls, Phoebe Miller meets Eli Riehl, a young man who charms her—and everyone else—with his exceptional storytelling ability. When Phoebe sketches scenes to illustrate one of his tales, Eli encourages her incredible talent, and together they embark on a lofty and unlikely business venture for two young Amish people—writing and illustrating a children’s book.

Eli’s kindness and appeal extend beyond his knack for words to reach inside Phoebe’s heart. But he is an only son with five sisters, and when his father suffers a heart attack, Eli gives up his writing to assume responsibility on the farm. Though willing to abandon his dream of becoming an author, he won’t give up his beloved Phoebe.

Can their love for a good story develop into something that lasts forever, or will Phoebe’s deep-seated fear of desertion stand in their way?

This book will be available Feb. 1, but of course you can pre-order it now. As for me, I think it’s time I go back and read the previous books in this series. : )

p.s. – if you read Mary’s comment below, you’ll see that she’s giving away a copy of her book! Leave a comment and we’ll draw a name later in the week. I’ll post the winner’s name at the bottom of this blog, so check back or watch my facebook page for the announcement.

  1. Oh you are such a tease. Lets see in 14 days it will be Feb. 1st, maybe I can wait. I know what I will do…..I will read a Vannetta Chapman book to hold me over. Have a good day Vannetta you sure are a hoot. :o )

      • Vanetta, I tried to get in your Blog to sign up for mary Ellis” contest, but it wouldn’t let me without making a blog. I don’t want a blog of my own. And, it kept telling me my username or password was not good. Really, I thought I knew my own stuff. So decided to do it this way. Hope this don’t happen every time I want to ck. on you. Gotta find me some of your books also. Maxie Anderson (mac262@me.com)

      • Maxie, I’m so sorry WordPress was rude to you. It should NOT require you to have your own blog n order to leave a comment. CRAZINESS. I will speak to the blog-o-sphere and let them know we’re unhappy.

  2. Sounds like a very good book, that’s another one for my list of books to read. I better hurry and finish the one i’m on.

  3. I have already read this book and it is absolutely FANTASTIC, I guess I am also A tease, you don’t have to read the previous books to follow it, but reading the first in the series is just as fantastic as this one, I would suggest everyone to read the whole series you will love it, All of Mary Ellis’s books are wonderful, just like Vannetta’s , they both are very gifted, and I am so happy they share there gift with us

  4. You are a hoot, Vannetta. Thanks so much for featuring me on your lovely blog! You do such an awesome job with blogging and especially face-booking (that is a word, isn’t it??) I stand in awe of your abilities! I’m glad you liked my characters. They were great fun to create. Isn’t it easier to modify the behavior of fictional people than real ones, such as our family members?? You would think I would have learned that by now. I can’t wait until you drop by my blog next month, prior to the release of A Perfect Square, your book 2 of the Shipshewana Mystery series. Folks, I was lucky enough to get a pre-release copy from the publisher, and this book is absolutely delightful. thanks again for featuring me, Vannetta!

  6. Sounds very interesting. Mary is a new author to me but I have seen her books and have them on my “Amazon” wishlist.
I actually know a lot of Amish people. I was born in Pennsylvania (Lewisburg) but we moved a year after I was born, so I don’t remember it. the Amish helped us move down here to Blanch, N.C. but a lot of them moved away so there aren’t much more around here.
Did you hear on the news about the Esh family that had an accident not long ago, well we knew the family pretty well. so it was sad to hear it.

  7. oh I can’t wait to read the new book. so wish I had it today, nothing better than covering up under a warm blanket with a good book, on these cold PA winter days.

  29. I just joined this group on Facebook and have not heard about Mary Ellis till now. Thank you for introducing me to yet another Amish Fiction writer. I can’t get enough! I’m on my way to Amazon to search for her books for my Kindle. I started reading Amish Fiction about 7 years ago while traveling the US of A in a motorhome and haven’t had time for anything else except the Bible! We have visited several Amish communities in our travels and have felt a warm welcome at everyone. I even had the opportunity to make homemade applesauce a few years back while in PA. Her husband was doing some cabinet work in our motorhome and she invited me to help (if I wanted) to make applesauce. What fun it was. A memory I’ll always remember. Of course she insisted that I take two jars when we left. Absolutely the best applesauce I’ve ever had! Sorry, didn’t mean to write a book – hehehe.

    • I saw your post and read it and loved it. What a thrill to be able to actually make applesauce with the Amish. I love reading about them and know you made a wonderful memory that day. You will enjoy reading Mary Ellis, she is a great author. Enjoy reading her and have a great winter. Snowy and cold here in Indianapolis IN.
