The first thing people ask when I tell them I’m a writer is “WHAT do you write about?” Should be a simple answer, but it’s not. I’ve finished 10 novels to date (ASAC released October 2010, Falling to Pieces will release in September of 2011). Every one of them has been vastly different. Every one has been a world unto itself. Every one I’ve had trouble walking away from. And they’re all hard to reduce down to a 10 second sound bite when people ask me that question.
But I can say they are stories of light, hope, and truth.
Stories that at least for a moment touch the deepest places in our heart.
Tales that whisper hope. That speak of family and community. That remind us of God and his love for us.
What do I write? If I had to reduce it to four words, I suppose I’d say I write fiction full of grace.
I like that considering we’re saved by grace, nurtured by grace and will one day reside in Heaven by grace…I think you’ve said it all, friend.
What a great site you have here!
Joyfully watching from now on!
JAM (sweet too)
GRACE is the key; isn’t it?
Loved A Simple Amish Christmas and I am positive I will love your Amish mysteries!!
Thank you, Karla. I’m so glad you enjoyed ASAC. Falling to Pieces is a real hoot, and I can’t wait for you to read it.
I just bought the new book and can hardly wait to read it . I am a transplanted Lancastrian from the town of Mount Joy, Pa. Growing up among the Amish and today have many of the same values that I am certain are from the Word rather than tradition. I am a Christian saved by Grace and LOVE reading stories from “Home” Thank you and looking forward to reading your works. Sande OberDori, now in Katy, Tx.
Sande, thanks for much for stopping by. I’ve been through Katy, TX before. It’s a bit south of where I live in Central Texas. I hope you enjoy Falling to Pieces, and I hope it gives you fond memories of your time among the plain people.
I just read ASAC and loved every bit of it! I love learning the life style of the Amish country and think it is wonderful! I am from Georgia and always have been interested in the Amash life style. This book really kept me in suspense, especially until the last few pages!!!!
I will be reading more of your Amish books.
Vickie, I’m so glad you enjoyed my story, and that you enjoyed it enough to stop by and leave a comment! Thank you, and I hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas holiday with your family.
Love amish books. Looking forward to reading this one.

Thank you, Cheryl. : )
I’ve just finished the first two Quilt shop books with Deborah and her friends….I loved them. I am Scottish and have been interested in the Amish way of life for some time. I am a christian and Jesus Christ is my Saviour and I attend a Baptist Church but I sometimes envy the simplistic way the Amish go about their lives…..I wonder if we would have much less stress in ours if we tried to do without some of the ‘gadgets’ for want of a better word. I am so looking forward to ‘A Promise for Miriam’ and Material Witness’ coming out later in the year DV. Lots of love from Bonnie Scotland

Bonnie, thank you so much for your post! I believe the “simplistic” aspect of the Amish lifestyle draws us in to these stories, but also causes us to examine our own lives–just as you described! Sometimes less can be better. Blessings to you …
