I LOVED the storyline and the writing style you used in “A Simple Amish Christmas.” I couldn’t stop reading – I SO wanted to find out what would happen next! I was disappointed, though, to find so little of the setting described. As a native of Lewistown, my dad worked in Belleville and my grandfather retired to be an Amish ‘taxi driver,’ and there are so many things that are special about that area. One thing that makes Amish books special is reading about the special places where the live, too, like the general store – like Peight’s, perhaps? But Big Valley, the Wednesday livestock auction, the special Saturday breakfast buffet at Peight’s, the quilt shop in Whitehall, the mountains, the patchwork fields – it’s just beautiful. If you continue this storyline, and I’d love to read more about Annie, I’d love to read more of home, too!
Amy, I’m so glad you enjoyed Annie’s story, and I couldn’t agree with you more about including more of the setting. I absolutely adore the PA area. One of the things sacrificed in a 65,000 word book is setting . . . at least it was for me, since I try to include so much character development. I understand what you’re saying though, and I’ll certainly try to hit more of those high points in the next book. Thanks for stopping by!
I’m so very proud of you, Vanetta! I would love to host you at a signing in our library, if that would ever be a possibility. Or, hire you as a speaker for our high school students. I’m subscribing to your blog and can’t wait to read your new book.
Still love you and remember when you and Cody were hanging out with us at McDonald’s, the park, Mary’s house, etc . . . Susie
McDEEEs. I remember when ONE of us–you or Claudia–went to the management and asked them to PLEASE build a playground. Ahh, the old days. I would love to come to your school. : )- Big hugs.
Hi Vannetta–I just finished reading “A Simple Amish Christmas” and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m hoping you might write a sequel. I need to know about the birth of Sharon’s boppli, Adam and Leah’s wedding / new home and, of course, Annie and Samuel’s wedding and life-to-be! Any chance??
Hi Darlene, I’m so glad you liked ASAC, and yes there IS going to be a sequel. You can learn more details by signing up for my newsletter via facebook or my webpage. : )- How’s that for a tease?
I am so glad to hear you’re not going to leave us hanging forever! Thank you! Can’t wait for the sequel.
I wouldn’t do that to you, Darlene. : )
I just finished reading A Simple Amish Christmas. I came on here because I was hoping to find info about a sequel. I have to know what happens to the characters. When will it be out?
Mary, I’m writing the sequel now. The Christmas Quilt will be out December 2013. Keep watching this blog for details.
I’m happy to hear there will be a sequel tp ASAC. Fell in love with the characters and hated to finish because then they would have to move out of my head.
)
Thank you, Janet!
Love your books! I am a new quilter and like the way you used those ideas in your books!
